Do you have a handwoven rug, blanket, embroidery, or other handmade textile that needs restoration, repair or mounting?

I offer a variety of services to help you restore, repair, and preserve historic and sentimental textiles.

Services

  • Reconstruction involves restoring or reconstructing damaged or missing areas of a woven textile. I will analyze and match the structure of the original weave with materials of comparable fiber, weight, twist, texture, and color.

  • Rugs woven with cotton warps often exhibit unsightly white knots that emerge to the surface over time, and disrupt the integrity of the design. Touching up the knots with colorfast dyes allows the knots to safely disappear. Other times, reknotting a rug may be too costly- and expert color matching and dying can bring the beauty of the original design in an old worn piece back to life.

  • Repair is a general category that includes unique problem solving for preserving antique and sentimental textiles to extend their serviceability, or preserve their integrity. Repair includes a range of services from stabilizing textiles, to creative reconstruction- based on your intentions and budget.

  • I also design handwoven textiles inspired by color theory and minimalism, woven to your specifications.

I have been restoring handwoven textiles and weaving for over 25 years. I am a trained artist and designer, committed to preservation and invention.
